Mrs. Mary C. Mantelli, Principal
As principal of St. Francis de Sales – St. Stephen School, I am dedicated to leading and living in a manner that exemplifies Catholic social teaching; to creating a safe, nurturing, and respectful learning environment; to promoting analytical and reasoning skills that lead to continued academic and personal success; and to developing in each student exemplary citizenship and stewardship for our school, our community, and the world.
I have been involved in Catholic education throughout my life, having been educated in the Diocese of Buffalo, NY by the Sisters of Mercy, the Sisters of St. Joseph, and the Jesuits. My husband and I chose Catholic education for our own children, and I have made my career as an educator in Catholic schools in the Diocese of Rochester, NY. I taught in grades 3-8 for eleven years, and for the past three years I have served as the Principal of St. Francis – St. Stephen School in Geneva, NY.
I believe that a Catholic education is the gift of a lifetime for our students, but I know that I have also received a great gift as my career in Catholic schools has progressed. My faith has deepened and grown with each passing year as I worked with the precious children who have been entrusted to my care. It is an extraordinary joy to share with our students the teachings of Jesus Christ and to ignite in them a passion for doing His work here on Earth.
